Continuous Scrolling

Continuous Scrolling

Postby ACFER » Sun Jun 02, 2013 2:45 am

I'd been using the original CDisplay until I found this one today, it's really a huge improvement, great stuff!

With that in mind, I'd like to make a suggestion I've seen in other readers. As the title says, continuous scrolling, which I noticed is actually possible when viewing the thumbnails, but (unless I've completely missed in spite of looking through all the menus) not when reading the actual file.

If it's already possible, please tell me how to activate it.

Thanks in advance.

it is not yet possible, but it is an improvement I would make.
This will require a lot of work, because the software was never designed to do so.

Thanks for the continuous vertical scrolling! Just a thing: would it possible to have it not jump between frames when you get at the end? When you get to the end of a page, it kinda stops, then jumps to the beginning of the next one. If it was more fluid, I would no longer have any reasons to use the old picwalker reader (pretty please, that one is 10 years old now).

Thanks for all the hard work.

I'm not sure this is a good idea as a lot of images would need to be decoded and stored in ram, continues display would eat up ram in seconds and slow your system down.
Just do some math
a 1920x2950 color image is around 16 MiB, let's say you're reading a standard 30 page book the app would need 500MiB just to store the images without any processing, one of the reasons cdx is fast is that it frees unused memory otherwise you couldn't open a 200+ page book.

for this would be good a config
how percent of free ram i can use
or how much MB are use as cache
or how many pages before (default = 2)
and how many pages after should be precalc (default = 4)

when it comes to korean webtoons, continuous mode is a necessary feature
I'm forced to use 10 yr old pickwalker
I recently discovered stduviewer but I have to rename zip/rar files to cbz/cbr to open them
signed up to beg for this (topic has 1122 views meaning many others are also interested)

This is very difficult to do, It was not designed initially for that.
I keep it in my mind, perhaps it will be possible later.
