Support WebP 0.3

Support WebP 0.3

Postby oX Triangle » Fri May 10, 2013 7:15 pm

Thank u for Support of Webp 0.2

but i have made some test and get a little bug

if i have multiple webp-images (similar an cbr/cbz-archive) in ONE webp-file (possible since webp 0.3)
CDisplayEx only show the last added frame
(frames contained in ANMF-chunks) would replace the cbr/cbz/cb7-archives COMPLETE...

another question..
possible to make support for explorer's preview-panel and thumbail?
would be nice that i dont need no CBX-Shell and no WIC-Codec anymore :D

im founder of the FaceBook-Group "WebP Alliance" https://www.facebook.com/groups/509583319099810/
maybe u want be member of this group
u r welcome :D

Hi,

I compiled webp 0.3 library but I don't use multiframed images.
It is a good idea to use it as a comic book archive.

The latest version (1.9.4) is able to display thumbnails of cb archives containing webp images.

Webp format is very suitable for comics, but its adoption does not depend on me unfortunately.
I think I should write a tutorial on how to package a comic book.

i have install 1.9.4 but explorer dont show thumbs of cb's with webp..

maybe a conflict with cbx-shell?
how i can activate this for epub? (similar cb's zipped doc)
i have use cbx-shell to activate epubs-thumbs
via manually regedit

on 17. june google opens the VP9

possible that webp 0.5 include VP9-technics (superclusters etc.)

and usage of multiframed webp is a good idea
because its EVER smaller and faster then every archives i have test..
only one path arrive same state... 7zip-store

btw. webp 0.4 include progressive chunks

There is probably a conflict with your shell extension, try to uninstall it first.
You also have to install CDisplayEx version according to your windows (version 32/64 bits).
The shell extension is able to display a thumbnail of any archive.
You can edit registry to add file association as you did with cbx-shell.

yes tnx.. it works tnx
maybe u can offer in config-setting
a part to add thumbnailing epub and htmlz too

in moment i see 4 ways to support multiple images
which chunk-type u would use for cbr/cbz-replacing?

ANMF (frame of an animation)
FRGM (fragment to add to an image before) (useful for data outside of the 16Mx16M limit)
LYER (layers is coming with webp 0.4 or 0.5) (useful for different languages in a comicbook?)
VP8X (extended vp8-stream)

or maybe we could establish a own chunk for paging
PAGE :D and rename the webp to cbw :D

have talk to developers..
for multiimages-webp similar comics or magazines they suggest ANMF (with time=0)

would be nice if we could drag an drop files (maybe a new edit-mode)
to reorder, add and remove pages and save it to one webp-file
for jpeg/png suggested parameters are "cwebp -mt -jpeg_like -quiet -o (filename.webp)"
if page is webp native reordering of the anmf-chunks should be possible without recoding

Thanks for the WebP support. After recoding I'm getting 2-3 times smaller files, 10 times smaller if I'm combining recoding with resampling (50% from 1920px width).

btw - 0.4.1 now out (release candidate)
i think for cdisplayex important is the faster decoding (25%)
